The objective of each level varies, but most of the time you need to match a certain amount of a type of material to make clothing. Just touch the element you want to move and slide it one space up, down, left or right, if you line up 3 or more of the same type, the match will be made. When you line up 4 elements, you a new material with scissors on it, and when matched, it will take out a whole row or column. You can also match 4 materials in a square shape. When you make a match-5 in a way that you make a vertical and horizontal match at the same time, you get the X-scissors, which cut diagonally both ways. If you make a line of 5, you create a special booster that when switched, it absorbs all the materials of the same type. Some levels have blue spaces, and you need to make matches over them until you clear the grid. Other levels have shoes, boxes or sewing machines that you need to get rid of by matches next to them. You can switch the shoes, but they don’t match by lining up next to each other. You can not move the boxes, and the sewing machines have to take 3 matches next to them to disappear. There are also blue space levels where spaces take 2 matches before returning to normal. There are some special boosters than you can’t create, you buy them before each level. There’s the thumbtack, that you can use to eliminate what’s on a single space. There’s the iron that moves in a diagonal way and covers many spaces at the same time. And finally there’s the washing machine, that gets rid of all the materials of the same type as the one you select. There’s not a time limit, and you don’t need to reach a certain score, but you get a Star Rank depending on your performance. You do have a limited amount of moves, and if you lose, you can buy 5 extra moves or start over. Every 10 levels or so, in the world map you move to a new boutique and create outfits for new costumers. You can continue your fashin designer adventure or go back and get a higher score in beaten levels.
Graphics 91%Fancy Tale features 2D hand-drawn graphics. The elements in the green look colorful and they’re pretty detailed, and the background changes according to the boutique you go to. There are some nice light effects when the scissors cut through the grid, and boosters like the washing machine also feature a nice animation of all elements getting together and revolving before disappearing. When you make a match and the falling elements line up, you get overlayed text like “Stunning” or “Beautiful”, and you see how many points you get for every disappearing element.
